I remembered when I was little, 5 or 6 and my Dad would always have a Mag light flashlight for everything, one in his truck, one in the house, when they came out with the small ones he bought those too, so I figured a flashlight or spotlight might help him around the lake and would definitely be a great gift for him.. Strangely, instructions stated in BOLD letters to not leave it plugged into the 12V charger more than 3-5 hours. Same warning with A/C charger just not in bold. So you really can't leave it plugged in and forget about it. That can be inconvenient, esp since the instructions also state to charge the light after each use. Has LED light in back of unit that tells you status of charge. Holds a charge well. I do not believe this kind of battery and circuitry has any kind of "memory" issues.The light is more solid in person than it looked in the picture, well made. Waterproof to a few feet which to me means that I can get it wet outside. Has dimmer switch under your trigger finger. The dimmer lags a couple of seconds when used.
