| 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful  Tuned up okay, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: 3' FIRESTICK II TUNABLE TIP BLACK (Electronics) First, a little background:Physically short antennas for lower frequency transmitters (like CB) involve a bunch of compromises and 'smoke and mirrors' to present an acceptable impedance to the transmitter to 'fool' it into outputting full power to the antenna. While the transmitter is putting out full power (or thereabouts), not all of that power is actually being radiated. In other words, a 102 inch long CB antenna (102" is a 'magic' number which is 1/4 wavelength for the CB frequencies) will be *magnitudes* more effective than a three or four foot long antenna no matter who makes it or what the color of it is. A 102" long antenna is not practical for most mobile applications so we look for shorter alternatives. This particular antenna with the tunable tip worked well for me since I had good equipment that permitted me to tweak the tip screw for the best match at about CB channel 20. You can tune it very easily and it's very forgiving when it hits the garage. If you buy one that you have to trim to tune, it's much more labor intensive. With this one, you simply twist the screw at the top and you're good to go.
