I love a big strong knife that carries as well as a smaller knife more suited towards EDC. I believe if a big blade is well balanced and carries well enough in the pocket that they can be just as comfortable as knives half their weight.I bought this and a Tenacious at the same time and they are my first spyderco knives (I'm a Kershaw/Zero Tolerance guy). I love them. Well built considering their low price point and Chinese origins. The attention to detail is there even if others would disagree. No, this knife is not of the same quality as my $120+ ZT knives nor do I expect them to be...but for the VALUE you are getting from this blade its hard to argue with it. The deployment is fast! The big blade creates a lot of inertia which cause it to fly out of the handle when you want yet has enough detent when closed to keep it from coming open in your pocket. The blade is actually longer than my Recon 1. Comes razor sharp. Deployment is wicked fast. The retention isn't as strong as the Tenacious, probably because it's so much longer. No blade play opened at all. When closed, blade is dead center. very niiiiceHonestly though, as much as I love this knife, I really don't see myself using it for anything other than maybe food prep. It's too big to use in public, people would freak. So it's just been sitting on my dresser so in case of emergencies, I know where it is.
