High Sierra Soaker 70 Hydration Pack, Pomodoro Reviews
7 of 7 people found the following review helpful Portable hydration pack works great for me!, By This review is from: High Sierra Soaker 70 Hydration Pack (Sports) I see other reviewers are having problems with their Soaker 70s, but not me. I use mine for biking to/around/from work (5-10 casual miles per day) and sometimes for longer days on the trail (~20-30 miles.) I received it as a gift when I went out to BurningMan a few years ago, and it was a lifesaver in the desert heat. It's small enough to be lightweight and comfortable, yet still has enough space to secure valuables. I haven't used the hidden mesh pocket yet, but it's nice to have just in case. The water tube can be routed over the left or right shoulder, and I use the loops on the other side to route MP3 headphones. Then secure the MP3 player onto the clip on the back, set it to shuffle, and hit the road ... everything I need is on or in the pack. It has always held up great for me, and cleans up easily. (If it can survive BurningMan and still looks like new, that's impressive!) It leaked on me once, after cleaning it, because I didn't screw the water... But with Color Distortion., By Matt Da Jungle Cat (Traveler) - See all my reviews This review is from: High Sierra Soaker 70 Hydration Pack (Sports) I bought the black/graphite one and I can say that the "graphite" color is not as pictured, it's more of a green grey, very ugly in my opinion; and since style was a large reason I purchased this product, I am taking 2 stars off for it.However, functionality-wise this is an amazing product! Here are pros/cons: Pros: Serves as a hydration packs correctly, like most other hydration packs. Holds A LOT of extra tools/equipment for it's size: -The outer zippered pocket on the back can hold another two 20oz water bottles plus a bit of miscellaneous equipment -The mixed media open pocket on the back attached to the zippered pocket can hold another single 20oz water bottle along with a little more miscellaneous equipment -The mesh that can be pulled out from a zipper on the bottom can hold a helmet, but I use it to hold a towel and/or a spare shirt Very lightweight and small! Almost unnoticeable when wearing if lightly... My friend got the Camelbak but I went for this cheaper option at the same time. Both of us have had similar usage (he's is more). The bite valve on this pack started leaking in about 9 months, the Camelbak is still going strong. The leak was initially a small drip but now water just flows out of the valve - soaked my car floor completely once. There is no replacement valve available from High Sierra - you have to buy the complete reservoir, which sucks! I am going for the Camelbak reservoir instead. The Camelbak, even though its costlier is a better buy than this. This pack serves the purpose - but the bite valve is the most important part, if that fails, everything else is not worth it! There is also no chest strap - so you cannot really run with this on. Pros: - Cheaper - Looks OK Cons: - Bad quality bite valve - No chest strap |
